Barbeque Sauce Recipe Collection:
Texas, Kansas City, and Jack Daniel's BBQ
A great barbeque sauce recipe results in just about the perfect food. It's generally low in fat, it's incredibly flavorful, and there are so many different kinds that you can never really
get bored. And while it's easiest to just run to the store for a bottle of KC Masterpiece or whatever... don't be so darned lazy!
Making homemade barbecue sauce is really easy. From the most basic barbecue sauce recipe to a totally original recipe full of strange ingredients, I don't think I've ever come across a recipe that is truly difficult. There's just no excuse to grab a bottle when you can make your own barbeque sauce recipe at home so easily.

The BEST Texas Barbeque Sauce Recipe
This sauce is spicy, rich, sweet, garlicky, and, well... really good. It's not as thick as many Texas sauces, but is bursting with flavor. What this sauce isn't,
however, is tangy. If you like an extra tang in your barbeque, you might want to toss in 1/4 c. apple cider vinegar in addition to the regular apple cider. It's
great either way!
Ingredients:
1 quart vegetable juice (like V8)
1 quart beef broth
1/2 C. plain yellow mustard
1/2 C. apple cider
1 C. molasses
1/3 C. black pepper
1/3 C. paprika
1/4 C. Worcestershire sauce
1 lg. yellow onion, chopped fine
1 C. roasted green chilis
1-2 jalepeņo peppers, minced (to taste)
1/2 C. minced garlic
1 tbsp. liquid smoke
Tabasco or other hot sauce (to taste, optional)
Instructions: Combine V8 and beef broth in a large pan. Add mustard, apple cider, molasses, peper and paprika. Stir as you add each ingredient.
Simmer approximate 30 minutes on medium-low heat. Then add worcestershire, onion, jalepeño, chili, and garlic.
Let simmer over low heat about three hours. Taste for spice after two hours or so, add hot sauce if desired.
Cool and blend, if desired (is equally good chunky or smooth). The sauce tastes great immediately, but is best when left for several days in the refrigerator
before using.
Spicy Texas Barbeque Sauce Recipe
Sure, the other recipe is the "best" (and the one I make most when I want that spicy Texas flavor), but... there are too many great Texas barbecue sauces out there to include just one in my collection. The recipe below is also
wonderful and full of spice. It's not as sweet as the recipe above, and is quite a bit thicker. A more basic barbecue sauce recipe, but just as great.
Ingredients:
2 C. ketchup
1/2 onion, minced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 C. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 C. lemon juice
1 tbsp. dark molasses
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. Creole mustard
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 tsp. Lousiana hot sauce (like Tabasco)
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
Instructions: Combine ingredients in a medium sized saucepan. Heat to a simmer over low heat.
Let simmer 10 minutes, the cool slightly and serve.
Easy Kansas City BBQ Sauce Recipe
This Kansas City BBQ Sauce recipe is so easy, you'll be amazed you ever bought the stuff from a bottle. All of the spices and flavorings are dried and
simple to use-- it takes five minutes to mix up. Seriously, it's that easy... but doesn't taste anything like your boring basic barbecue sauce recipe.
Ingredients:
2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground celery seeds
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. finely ground black pepper
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
2 C. tomato ketchup
1/4-1/3 C. apple cider vinegar, to taste
2 Tbsp. yellow mustard
2 tsp. liquid smoke
1/2 C. firmly packed dark brown sugar
Instructions: Dump all ingredients together in a medium, non-reactive saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring often.
Simmer over low heat for 20-30 minutes, until slightly thickened. Cool slightly and serve.
Traditional Kansas City Barbeque Sauce Recipe
This recipe uses fresh veggies, so while there's a bit more chopping and peeling than with the simpler recipe above, it's still totally easy. This recipe is for
those who want a super rich, super sweet sauce. There's very little vinegar and no spice, so you won't get the tang you find with most barbeque sauce
recipes.
Want a spicy, tangy sauce? Toss in some chili powder, crushed red pepper, and extra vinegar. The fun thing about making barbecue sauce is that
you can do whatever you want with it.
Ingredients:
2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
1/2 C. onion, finely minced
1 tbsp. margarine or butter
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. prepared yellow mustard
1 tbsp. A1 (or other) steak sauce
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1-2 tsp. liquid smoke
2 C. ketchup
1 C. beer
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 C. brown sugar, packed
Instructions: In a medium saucepan, cook garlic and onion til tender and translucent.
Toss in the rest of the ingredients. Bring to a simmer and cook over low heat about 25 minutes, until thickened slightly.
Jack Daniel's Barbecue Sauce Recipe

This amazing barbeque sauce recipe is actually more of a Jack Daniel's glaze. And while it's wonderful on everything (I love it on chicken) it really shines on ribs. If you
love Jack Daniel's BBQ Sauce or those Jack Daniel's Glazed Rib thingies at chain restaurants (you know, the onese that come in a paper-lined basket),
you'll love the flavor of this-- it's easy, but far tastier than what you'll get from a chain restaurant.
Ingredients:
1/4 C. butter
1/4 C. oil
3/4 C. finely minced white onion
1-2 jalepeños, chopped (to taste)
1 C. Jack Daniels whiskey
1/3 C. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 C. ketchup
1/2 C. apple cider vinegar
1/2 C. freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/3 C. molasses
1/4 C. brown sugar
pinch salt, if needed
Instructions: In a medium saucepan, cook jalepeños and onion in oil just til tender. Do not let brown.
Remove the pan from the heat, then add the Jack Daniels. Boil whiskey and onion over medium high heat til partly reduced, about 5 minutes.
Add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer 25-30 minutes, until thickened.
