Deep Fried Turkey Question: Amount of Oil?

I have a 30 quart deep frying pot and the max fill line is close to the middle but when I put the turkey in there is a lot more room to put more oil. Please give me some more insight!

Amount of Oil Needed for Turkey Fryer

Thanks for writing in with your turkey question! The answer is an easy one: the oil in the fryer pan needs to cover the turkey completely. That doesn't necessarily mean that it has to fill the whole pot. Be sure the turkey is completely covered with oil when you fill up the pot, but don't worry if there's room at the top for more oil-- it doesn''t mean you need to add more.
