Military Table Centerpiece Idea
When we were looking for ideas for my dad's 70th birthday party, all we could find for a 1940's theme was military, which was not what we were looking for. So we created our own 40s themed party!
We had the party in a banquet room at a hotel where they serve my dad's favorite brunch. We asked our guests to dress in 40's fashion and decorated our tables in pictures of dad through the years and items from the 1940's. We had a different decorating/centerpiece theme on each table.
1. 1940's Toys/Games Table Centerpieces:
The tables were decorated with old games and toys with a framed picture of our father with his first bike.
2. 1940's Family Table Centerpiece:
The table is decorated with a picture of my dad with his parents and younger brother with a mans dress hat and gloves.
3. 1940's Wedding/Ladies Fashion Centerpiece:
The table decorations were made with my parents wedding picture with a pearl necklace and ladies gloves, etc.
4. Fishing in the 1940's Table Centerpiece:
My dad likes to fish so we framed a picture of him as a little boy with his first fish and decorated with an old fishing creel and bobbers, etc.
5. 1940's Military Centerpiece:
His father was in the navy, so this table was devoted to the military with flags and a picture of him with his dad in uniform.
These are just a few of the ideas we used. It was pretty cheap because all we really paid for was a few picture frames and some balloons. All of the other stuff on the tables was old stuff we all had around our homes.
Our guests were so impressed and had so much fun going from table to table to see what all was on each table centerpiece. It was a great way to get people to mingle and great conversation starters.
