Apple Dessert Pizza Recipe for a Party
I love this little joke on the college student's constant diet of pizza! It's also a fun food to serve for a graduation party, because it's an unexpected twist on pizza. And tastes totally fabulous.
The recipe here doesn't include the pizza dough. If you want to prepare your own, just go ahead and use your favorite pizza dough recipe. Or buy a pre-made dough, or a pre-cooked pizza crust... whatever floats your boat!
Recipe serves about 10.
Ingredients:
1 pre-made (or homemade) pizza crust
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 egg
1/4 C. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
4 C. apples; peeled and thinly sliced
2/3 C. and 1/3 C. brown sugar, divided
1/4 C. and 1/3 C. All-purpose flour, divided
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. grated nutmeg
2 tbsp. butter, softened
Instructions: 1. Mix up and pre-bake your pizza dough until just baked, according to recipe or manufacturer directions. Let cool slightly.
2. In a mixer beat cream cheese, vanilla, egg and 1/4 cup sugar until smooth. Spread mixture over crust.
3. In a bowl mix apples with 2/3 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Spread apple mixture evenly over the cream cheese base.
4. Combine 1/3 cup flour and 1/3 cup brown sugar. Cut butter into small pieces and crumble into this mixture to create a crumb topping. Sprinkle this topping over the apples and bake at 350 degrees until golden brown, or about 40 minutes.
The best food to serve for a graduation party includes a few favorites and a few surprises. So have fun with your graduation party menu!
