Mother's Day Recipe:
Dessert Brownie Trifle

Be warned: this is decadent. And surprisingly easy. Is it more trouble than making a pan of brownies? Yep. But not much, and it's worth it. This rich and elegant mother day dessert recipe will really wow Mom-- and probably leave her thanking you all day.

Ingredients:
1 pkg. (20 oz) fudgy brownie mix
1/4 c. water
1/2 c. vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 tbsp. instant coffee granules
1 pkg. (3.6 oz) chocolate pudding mix
1 3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. Kahlua
1 pkg. (8 oz) toffee bits (Heath bits work well)
3 c. sweetened whipped cream (or Cool Whip)
Chocolate curls (optional)

Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Use water, oil, coffee, and eggs to prepare brownie mix (in place of the ingredients listed on the package).

Bake brownies in a 13x9" pan as directed on package. Cool as directed.

While brownies cool, combine pudding mix, milk, and Kahlua. Prepare as instructed on pudding packaging.

Cut pan of brownies into one-inch squares. Don't make them too big.

Place about half of the cut brownies in the bottom of a trifle bowl (this should have a three quart capacity and be made of clear glass-- presentation is important for this Mother's Day recipe dessert).

Pour half of pudding over top of brownies. Top with half of the toffee bits (reserve a small handful of toffee bits for the topping), and half of whipped cream.

Repeat layers once.

Top second layer of whipped cream with reserved toffee. Sprinkle with chocolate curls if desired.

Cover. Refrigerate trifle at least four hours before serving.
