Hot "Redrum" Halloween Cocktail
If you've ever seen Stephen King's "The Shining" there's a real chance that the word "REDRUM" stuck with you. Heck, it still scares me! This is a great Halloween drinks recipe for a Halloween party, especially if you live in a cold place. The hot buttered rum really warms you up... but the color is more than a little unsettling.
Make up the butter mixture ahead of time, and stick it in the fridge until you're ready to use it. When your guests arrive, just assemble your hot Redrums, and enjoy. The butter mixture makes enough for 60-80 drinks, but keeps in the fridge for weeks.
Ingredients:
Butter Mixture:
2 C. brown sugar
1/2 C butter, softened
1/4-1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2-3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
For Each Drink:
1 1/2 oz. light rum
boiling water
Red food coloring
Instructions: 1. In a mixing bowl, mix the sugar, butter, and spices until well mixed and fluffy.
2. Cover and refrigerate butter mixture until needed, or use immediately.
3. For each drink, scoop a heaping teaspoon (I like a little extra) of butter mixture into the bottom of a mug, along with 1 1/2 ounces of rum. Add red food coloring as needed (food coloring paste works best).
4. Pour boiling water over, stir, and sip slowly. One of the most warming Halloween drinks around!
