Spicy Texas Barbeque Sauce Recipe
Sure, the other recipe is the "best" (and the one I make most when I want that spicy Texas flavor), but... there are too many great Texas barbecue sauces out there to include just one in my collection. The recipe below is also
wonderful and full of spice. It's not as sweet as the recipe above, and is quite a bit thicker. A more basic barbecue sauce recipe, but just as great.
Ingredients:
2 C. ketchup
1/2 onion, minced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 C. Worcestershire sauce
1/3 C. lemon juice
1 tbsp. dark molasses
1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. Creole mustard
1 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 tsp. Lousiana hot sauce (like Tabasco)
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
Instructions: Combine ingredients in a medium sized saucepan. Heat to a simmer over low heat.
Let simmer 10 minutes, the cool slightly and serve.
