Works just fine, Tastes different but microwaved poultry always does. Estimate time on the low side, inspect, then add time.

I microwave before I barbeque turkey drumsticks NEW
by: MarshaLynn

Cook for 5 minutes on high in a microwave safe dish with plastic covering dish be sure to vent one corner of plastic then put about one cup of water in the bottom of the dish then contiue cooking for an additional 40 minutes on medium add BBQ sauce if you want then put on the Barbeque for 5 minutes for flavor add more sauce while your grilling them. I microwave before we go on picnics wrap in foil and just barbeque at our location then Im sure it is cooked and not raw in the middle I hope this helps you

Microwaving Turkey Drumsticks

Hi Bertha, thanks for writing in. Well, normally I'm a can-do sort of person. I like to look for the best ways to do things. But...

I really wouldn't recommend cooking turkey drumsticks in the microwave. They would turn out chewy and terrible! At least, that's my impression, as I've never tried it.

Baking, roasting, or barbecuing turkey drumsticks really isn't too difficult, and is certainly worth the extra effort. Imagine the chewy-rubbery skin you'd get in the microwave! You can find a recipe for turkey legs in the oven or BBQ here.

Sorry, but I just can't help you with microwave turkey leg timing. That said, if anybody out there has tried this successfully, please write in and lend Bertha a hand. Maybe I'm wrong about microwaving drumsticks... after all, I've never tried it.
